Introduction

Athlete marketing platform Opendorse enjoyed early success through local partnerships near its headquarters in Lincoln, Neb. But, despite working with an agency, the company lacked the national brand recognition necessary to become ubiquitous. When Opendorse started working with our team, we leveraged our proprietary database of over 10,000 sports reporters and used our national business contacts to immediately cast a national spotlight on the company. Further proliferation of the brand came after Branded conceptualized and distributed Opendorse’s proprietary sports marketing data which further exposed the company to new customers, partners and stakeholders.

COMPANY PROFILE

Existing partnerships with companies like EA Sports and Garmin were unknown within the marketing and sports industries. By leveraging our contacts with influential marketing publications like Adweek and prominent sports outlets like ESPN, Opendorse’s burgeoning company narrative was exposed to key decision makers who ultimately turned into clients as a result of these stories.

THOUGHT LEADERSHIP

Opendorse staked its future largely on the changing landscape of sports marketing and the NCAA’s rules governing name, image and likeness. With an eye on the company’s future, our team crafted a strategy that cemented the Opendorse executive team as leading experts in athlete marketing and name, image and likeness. It led to conversations with executives at the highest levels of the NCAA.

DATA DISTRIBUTION

Recognizing that early efforts to secure high-yielding editorial for Opendorse cemented the company’s standing as sports marketing experts, our team doubled down on that success. We worked with Opendorse to develop proprietary reports related to sports business and marketing, distributing them across the country which further raised awareness for the company and boosted its SEO.

CASE STUDIES

Many major university athletics departments rely on Opendorse to boost ad revenues and fundraising. Until engaging with our team, however, the company lacked a succinct yet in-depth way of telling these stories. Our content strategists helped craft these success stories, furnishing a product that read like a story in the Wall Street Journal.

BRAND JOURNALISM

Evolving legislation in sports marketing — but particularly at the NCAA level — necessitated that Opendorse’s leadership develop positions and opinions on topics related to the changing tides of the industry in which they operate. Our team worked with Opendorse executives to develop articles of a quality imbued at the highest levels of journalism. They expanded the executives’ influence and acted as lead drivers on the company’s website.

CONTENT DISTRIBUTION

Our team’s relationships with editors around the country were a boon to the Opendorse content initiative. We secured opportunities in the most influential sports, business and tech publications for Opendorse to share its articles, opinions and case studies, cultivating a larger audience for the company’s brand journalism and helping to facilitate more partnerships.

GUEST POST

VentureBeat

“Prior to working with Branded, we saw such minimal results from public relations that our team actually started to believe that we weren't newsmakers. But the Branded team's creative approach to public relations and content marketing helped elevate Opendorse into a national brand, trusted by some of the largest companies in the world.”
